I Was Bored So I Checked Out Double My Speed

When I am bored, I will check out companies websites I see advertised on television. I saw an ad for Doublemyspeed.com and decided to see what they were all about. They offered a free download to scan my computer for errors which thought might not be a bad idea so I took the download. After about 5 minutes, Doublemyspeed found hundreds of errors after scanning my registry. Most were system software settings, which I could view, but not repair until I paid.

The software they use is by Cyberdefender, and I know someone who used their software with good results, so I hit fix errors and paid my money. Not bad service at all. The errors were fixed almost instantly. While I didn’t think m computer was all that slow before, Double My Speed did increase the speed at which the system booted up. I never realized my computer took so long to boot up until I bought this fix.

I would say it is worth buying, especially if you want an immediate fix and you don’t have a great deal of computer expertise. I know I could have done many of these fixes myself, but I was afraid I would delete an important file and totally ruin my computer. I believe I got my money’s worth from Doublemyspeed, even though it was a 5 minute repair job.

I downloaded this free version of Doublemyspeed just to see if it could help my computer. I admit I don’t do the system scan and defrag thing very often, so I was ready for some help. I contacted their 24/7 help desk for assistance, and after review, decided to upgrade to their full version so as to get my system running as smoothly as possible.

Dont install this crap dont pay for things that you can do for free with windows tools like defrag , disc clean , unselect start programs in msconfig.exe ect.. research even upgrade your Ram for faster speeds

  • Beware of double my speed cyber defender. I am so sorry I got involved with these people. I heard the ad on the radio, then checked out the website. They promised to speed my computer for $39.95. I thought this was too much and tried to sign off. They immediately came back with an offer of $19.95 which I accepted with my credit card. They they checked my computer and said I had so many errors they would have to clean it overnight for $187 to over $300. This began to feel like a scam to me so I said i wanted my money back. They sent me a bunch of B.S. customer service emails which said nothing and did not address my concerns. I am zero percent satisfied and I am writing to the Better Business Bureau, my state Attorney General and the FTC. I am not consulting with a class action lawyer as I realize I am not the only person taken by these people. Notice online where other people have complained and the company just writes polite, pat-on-the-head letters full of words that do nothing to solve the problem presented. Beware.

  • dont download the free software check. i did to see how many viruses i had. big mistake my computer freezes if i try to uninstall it and everytime i turn my computer on it pops ur trying to get me to buy it. i feel like it was a virus itself that wont go away until ur purchase which im not gonna be dumb enough to do. very pissed about this. dont download its a waste of time and makes everything worse

I have bean down this road many times before . There are a whole score of remote computer fixit companys out there and they all do just about the same thing, get you to download a “virus” and then have you pay to get rid of it. Yes they might defrag and change some settings to make it appear like it doubled your speed but my advise BUYER BEWARE. ps there are a few good ones out there but they are much more than 30.00 and yhe never ask you to download anything until you have paid for the service. hope this helped

Don’t Install this crap. I paid the $39.98 to have my errors “fixed” after installing the “free” software to check my system for errors. There were errors found and when I attempted to fix them I was instructed on their web site to call a 1 800 number, which I did, then I was connected to a technician who, after installing more software to access my system remotely, ran some more tests and found a virus. Hmmmmm, I do have the most recent virus definitions downloaded from McAfee so what heck? In any event I was told that I need to have this virus removed and that they would do it after they sold me a annual service agreement. The price………..$309. WHAT A SCAM I said not and called their customer service department back and demanded a refund of my original purchase of $39.98 to my credit card. Buyer Beware!!

  • scam sacam, i see review about doublemyspeed.com at http://doublemyspeedcomplaints.com/,have

Double my speed is a big rip off. I want believe any other adds I hear on this radio station.

  • Iceeray:

I know very little about computers, so when I needed help to fix my computer I thought $39 was a cheap fix,But after installing the program and paying my money,(because the add says $39 dollars speed up your computer) I was told it would take another $299 dollars to really fix my problem,This is the biggest rip off ever,My neighbor fixed it for a six pack.

  • Jim M:

I purchased the double my speed product the other day for $39. I was really annoyed to find out I was required to call an 800 number to activate. As soon as I got on the phone, a snake oil salesman started telling my how bad things were on my computer, and that I needed to subscribe to Cyberdefender as my IT support for $249. They had not actually done what they promised for the $39, and now wanted another $249. After I said no, they guy on the phone activated the software which does not remove anything, and so far I do not see any improvement in speed. I will now tell them I want my money back, and feel stupid for being suckered into this.

Last night I tried the free download and of course it came up with several hundred errors. When I was done, I tried to uninstall it from my computer and it wouldn’t let me uninstall it. I would get a popup to talk to a customer service rep. I tried to email them and it said that they were typing but there was no response so I waited and waited and waited with nothing. I kept trying to uninstall this program and it kept crashing my computer. Finally I called and talked to a tech who said that he would have to get onto my computer in to see what is going on. Of course, he wanted to show me what the errors were and I said yes. He showed me all these critical erros and tried to sell me their service for $199 and then it went to $600. I kept telling him I would have to think about it and he was pushing me. During this conversation he assured me that it was off my computer. After we finally hung up, I restarted my computer only to find out that the program was still popping up. I called back and talked to a very rude gentleman who acknowledged that I had just called in and would not give him my email address. I told him several times that they didn’t ask for it. I asked to talk to the tech that I just talked to and he said he didn’t know who it was and put me on hold for 25 minutes. Finally, a woman answered who was yelling at me. I insisted to speak to a supervisor and gave her my number. I said that I would hold and she said that she can’t do that. She said someone would call last night and no one did. I am still waiting for the phone call. I will call back again today and let you know what happened. Shelia

After reading these reviews and hearing doublemyspeed.com on the radio, I know this is a big scam when the average computer user can find free help just by googling it or download CCleaner or go to CNet.com they usually have free downloads to help your computer. CCleaner has a registry cleaner that does very well and it also cleans your history. Also you can use the defragmenter that came with your computer to help your computer run better as well. Another good program for FREE is Advance System Care. This program is like CCleaner but Advance System Care to me after using finds more items to be removed than CCleaner. You can also upgrade ASC and it won’t cost you a bunch of money.

  • Jason:

DO NOT Download. This doesn’t do anything that you cannot do for free. The worst part is that I cannot get it to uninstall. This is extremely frustrating and simply not worth you time.

I bought Doublemyspeed in 2009 after hearing about it on the radio. I noticed absolutely no change in my computer’s speed. DMS has charged me 3 more times in 2010, 2011, and 2012. I didn’t notice until the last billing because they’re using an old credit card number. I refuted the charge with VISA but DMS sent them an impressive reply convincing VISA that I purchased it. I have cancelled that card and will pay the bill to keep them off my back. But overall I paid about $160 for nothing. DMS sucks ass. Stay away!
