New range of Intel Atom in sight

Intel Atom in sightThe Intel Atom always been at the bottom of the box Intel product families. They are the least powerful, but that is why they are the best in terms of energy efficiency. Drink little and are more than enough for certain tasks.

The new family of chips called Atom N2000 Series , and within it we have the first models: Intel Atom N2600 and N2800 . Interestingly, the main difference is the amount of slots for RAM DDR3 supported, one for the first and two for the second. Insufficient, especially in the first case and taking enc admit that each slot up to 2 GB modules. The good news is that these new Atom will include GPU integrated , depending on model, 400 or 640 MHz will be as basic as I would say that we completely forget gaming. It is what it is: an Intel Atom. And by the way, the GPU stays in DirectX 9 , no version 10 let alone 11.
An interesting aspect is the frequency: 1.86 to 2.13 GHz for the N2800, and between 1.6 and 1.86 GHz for the N2600, which leads to TDP really low of 3.5 and 6.5 watts respectively. Good figures for processors designed to consume very little.

Unfortunately we do not know what their performance, although not likely to be too far above the current Atom. Its release is also uncertain, but seeing all this information comes from Intel (more specifically, this 119-page technical document ) it is likely that we have throughout this October just started.
