Users of Mini Computers

In the world of computers, there is no argument: the notebooks have won the game to desktop models. And more and more people find the right equipment in a mini computer that can provide good performance in half the space. A survey of Italian users has allowed us to know what to say about these small laptops.

60% of PCs sold in Spain during 2007 were laptops. The increase in benefits, combined with the drop in prices has been instrumental in this success.

Within the portable is great: from niche products intended for large fans to games or multimedia applications, the mini computers, appliances really small and light that make its handling and portability. In laptop computers can see a panorama of laptops most suitable according to the user profile.

The mini laptops weigh less and bulge half a conventional laptop. But among them there are categories.

* The smallest, called netbooks, have a screen between 7 and 10 inches. Its users are people who need to move a lot with your computer, and are willing to sacrifice performance in exchange for freedom of movement. They need the basic functions and calculus text and web browsing. Smaller appliances use very low power processors have a limited RAM, and dispense with some elements (DVD / CD or certain connections, for example).

* More mini laptops are larger, have screens of 11 to 13 inches: they are the subnotebook, devices designed for users who must travel with your computer. Although small and light they need, seek a full computer capable of playing music and video, using office applications, browsing, email, etc.

* The two categories are determined not only by the size of the screen, but also for its potential and the different costs of each other: while the netbook can be found from 300 to 500 euros (although they can cost twice ) subnotebook models are more expensive, from 1000-1200 euros.
Our colleagues in the Italian consumer association Altroconsumo have done a survey among users of mini laptops. From the results obtained interesting conclusions can be drawn.
o Web browsing is the main use given to these devices: use it to this almost 9 out of 10 respondents. A smaller percentage (just 7 out of 10) use e-mail and office applications.
o The use of such devices is often combined with that of larger computers: only half of those surveyed by our Italian colleagues say they use their mini notebook daily. And 60% report that uses outside of home or permanent employment.
o subnotebook owners are mostly satisfied with the multimedia features of its mini-notebook, something that is not so common among users of a netbook.
or users especially appreciate the portability of such devices, it is not a surprise.
o At the other extreme, the battery capacity, sound quality and lack of visibility when used outdoors are the weaknesses of the mini notebooks.
o The users surveyed in Italy consider that their mini laptops mostly met expectations. And three of every four users say they are very satisfied with your netbook or subnotebook.
